The Jewish Theater Publishes Book.
Staged Reading of the Censored Book @ the Triad, 158 W. 72nd St, on Tue Apr 17 @ 8p
The Jewish Theater of New York invites you to attend a theatrical public reading of “I Sleep in Hitler’s Room: An American Jew Visits Germany,” a scathingly factual document about the increasing anti-Semitism in today’s Germany, written by Tuvia Tenenbom, artistic director of the JTNY.
Tuvia, who is also a columnist for Die Zeit, Germany’s most influential paper, was commissioned by German publisher Rowohlt to write a book about present-day Germany. Traveling for almost six months throughout the country, and visiting close to 40 cities, Tuvia discovered that anti-Semitic sentiments are prevalent across all levels of German society. Rowohlt, one of the largest and most influential of German publishers, promptly censored the book. But the truth is stronger than any publisher and the JTNY is now presenting portions of the book in theatrical form to New Yorkers.
First staged public reading will take place on Tue, Apr 17, 8:00p, @ the Triad, 158 W 72nd Street, NYC. In addition, the JTNY is making the book available for purchase, in English. For paperback please visit Amazon.com. For an eBook, please visit iTunes, Kindle and Nook sites.
Please note: The book will be published in Germany this coming September by the prestigious Suhrkamp publishing co. in Berlin.
