The Jewish Theater of New York Condemns the Continuous Use of the Grounds and Website of Buchenwald Concentration Camp as a Podium to Spread Lies and Deplores the Harrowing Silence of German Media, Institutions and People
Months ago The Jewish Theater of New York has called for the dismissal of Buchenwald Concentration Camp Memorial director, Prof. Volkhard Knigge, following our Artistic Director Tuvia Tenenbom's revelations in I Sleep in Hitler's Room (Allein unter Deutschen) of Knigge's infatuation with the far-left "Uganda" establishment, the proponents of the idea that Jews should settle in Africa and not in the Middle East. This call went unheeded and, as a result, for the past five months Knigge keeps on using Buchenwald as his podium for personal attacks, in addition to mounting one lie after another, and sadly he gets all the help he could wish for from German media: From local media in Weimar, such as TLZ, to German national media such as Deutschlandfunk. But the man doesn't stop there: Recently he is recruiting old survivors of Buchenwald, cruelly using them as his attack dogs. He puts words in their mouths, such as claiming that Tuvia Tenenbom refers in his book to today's Buchenwald as Disneyland -- which is a blatant lie -- and hides behind them in a manner befitting the old sadists of Buchenwald. The German media, and various personalities in Germany, refuse to this day to stop these shameful acts. The very fact that Prof. Knigge is allowed not only to use Buchenwald as his private property but also to spread lies from within the official site of Buchenwald will eventually help only Holocaust deniers, those who are ever in pursuit of proving that the Concentration Camp never existed. We call upon every decent man and woman in Germany to immediately stop the cruel, dishonest and anti-Semitic actions by the Director of Buchenwald, and to immediately replace this horrible man with a decent human being.
